General Awareness Program at Primary School, Tughalpur, Gr.Noida

Parivartan organised an awareness programme in primary school situated in Tughalpur village,Greater Noida.It is a middle school and we interacted with the students of 3rd; 4th and 5th which altogether had a strength of 200 students. The children were enthusiastic to learn and keen to know about new things.
Our team told them about:


       GENERAL AWARENESS:
1)Health and hygiene: The students were told about the common diseases (cold, malaria, earache, cough, etc); their causes, prevention and cures. We told them about some of the easy home remedies. They were told about the benefits of neem.
2)Sanitation: The students were sensitized about using toilets. They were encouraged to give importance to their personal cleanliness and to keep their surroundings(home; school and locality) clean.
3)Moral values: The importance of friendship,unity, respecting elders, and a good a moral conduct was inculcated in them through lessons. Great stress was laid on the significance of education.

       GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:
1)India at a glance: The students were familiarized with the rich heritage and history of India. They were made to learn about the current affairs and the things of national importance.
2)Colours: They were told about the myriad colours through rainbow. The students were made to learn and recognize colours.
3)Geography: The students were lectured on the geography of India.

       ENVIRONMENT:
1)Pollution: The questions answered were:types of pollution( noise;spoil;water and air pollution), definition of pollution and environment. Methods and steps to reduce pollution were told through descriptive charts.
2)Trees: The value of trees and their uses were discussed. Their significance in upholding the fabric of life was lectured on. The children were encouraged to plant and save trees in their neighborhood and vicinity.
3)Cleanliness: The kids were inspired to clean their surroundings clean and green.

At the end of the session questions were asked and pencil boxes as prizes were given out. We distributed pencils, pens and biscuits. The kids were made to note few important tips on personal health and hygiene and important points on other topics. The kids were urged to and inspired to inform their parents and friends about the lessons that they learnt.

The feedback from kids were heartening and encouraging. To bring a positive lasting change in the society we need to begin with the kids as they are the future of our country. Parivartan stands for the children of today and tomorrow.
